You know the saying that it’s never too late to chase your dreams? Abby Ikomi, Creative Director and Founder of House of Irawo is the perfect embodiment of this mindset. From a young age, she was always interested in the Fashion Industry. At the height of 5’11, she was born to walk the runway, however, due to strict parents she wasn’t able to pursue a modelling career.
Despite that restriction, Abby tapped into her creative mind and inherent love of arts and culture to build several businesses that ranged from hair to home décor. Fast forward 30 years and 4 kids later, at the age of 48 Abby along with her three daughters launched House of Irawo (HOI) in July 2017. House of Irawo aspires to become a global leader in increasing the accessibility of high quality ready-to-wear and custom made Nigerian pieces.
“Irawo” translates to Stars in Yoruba. Our goal is to make every woman glow with style and elegance, which we refer to as the “Star power” effect. In a nutshell, we create trendy, ready-to wear, and custom pieces for women not only in Nigeria but in Africa and the whole world at large. At House of Irawo we understand that fashion is a form of self-expression and this is why we strive to provide high quality one-of-a-kind pieces at an affordable price.
House of Irawo is located at 24 Idejo Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
