At the heart of it all is Abby, a woman whose passion for fashion runs deep, not just as a craft but as a legacy.  In 2017, as the pioneer , Abby laid the foundations for Irawo Studio —not just as a brand but as a catalyst—one that would inspire other women to embrace their boldness and wear their stories like a badge of honor.

What makes Irawo even more powerful is the dynamic force behind its growth: a family of women. Abby, alongside her daughters Dola, Anire, and Ama, have spent the last eight years building Irawo from the ground up—navigating the complexities of running a business with family, turning creative clashes into moments of magic, and merging generations of ideas into designs that celebrate individuality.Together, they are not only building a brand but strengthening their familial bond through their shared love for fashion. They challenge each other, learn from one another, and celebrate each other’s wins—just as mothers and daughters do in every facet of life.

Running a family-owned fashion brand, especially as women, comes with its own unique set of challenges. With  studies showing that while women own 36% of small businesses worldwide, only a small fraction break into the competitive fashion industry and sustain long-term success. Irawo is part of this rare statistic—not just surviving, but thriving—by blending slow fashion principles, cultural heritage, and bold design.

The beauty lies in the struggle—the late nights spent perfecting collections, the debates over fabric choices, and the delicate balance between family dynamics and business decisions.
